I’m so glad you’ve decided to join me on this brand new adventure! I hope you’ll like what you’re reading and that I can help you while I help myself.
But, first things first – Introductions!
My name is Elaine Russell. Well… It’s not really. I’m choosing to use this pseudonym (my middle name paired with my grand-mother’s maiden name) because in “real life”, I’m a high school teacher and I want to keep my online life separate from my professional life, for now anyways. Maybe I’m paranoid, but I keep imagining my students finding my picture and my blog on the interwebs and… what exactly? I’m not sure, but in my imagination, it’s NOT good!
So, for the moment, I’m Elaine. And although that’s not technically my real name, I promise that everything you’ll read on my site will be 100% authentic. You’ll get the total “me” experience, quirks and craziness included!
Now, why the heck am I even doing this? Good question, folks. Good question!
I don’t know about you, but I’m the kind of girl who has a million passions and thousands of projects lying around in my head (and every where else in my apartment…) I often start them, but I rarely finish them.
Why do I quit (or put my projects on a sometimes endless pause)? Oh, the reasons are infinite: lack of time, feeling overwhelmed, hitting a road block, something new and sparkly catching my eye, plain and simple procrastination or just losing interest in what I started.
Sometimes, I wonder if my attention span is a problem. But, honestly, I think that in this day and age, everyone (or, okay, most people) suffers from a short attention span. How can we stay focused on one (or two, or three) things for a long time when everything around us is going so fast? There’s always a new toy to try or a new trend to follow.
So, all in all, that’s why I’m starting this blog. Some of my projects are very dear and important to me, yet I can’t find the strength and the drive to finish them. And I know I’m not the only one in that situation.
I want you folks to be my guiding light. And I’m hoping I can become yours in return, as you watch me succeed (Yes! Succeed! I’m being affirmative and positive right from the start!) and tackle what I’ve always wanted to do. Writing this blog and telling you about my progress and what tools I’m using to achieve my goals will hold me accountable. And I know I need that.
See you soon!
